A range of attitudes have been expressed regarding
dams. While numerous governments, private sector interests and
engineering experts have
expressed support for these projects, other interests, including
environmental groups and indigenous peoples have expressed opposition.
In this section some examples illustrating the diversity of
these attitudes are provided.
